Legal Pot Bill Clears Key Committee in Vermont House

He says the American people have made it very clear that the skyrocketing premiums and deductibles and co-pays and out-of-pocket costs, "they can't live with that, they want us to do something about cost and that's what we're doing". If the bill makes it to the House Floor for a vote, I have chose to vote in favor of it based off the number of inquiries my office has received in support of the bill. Both bills are now before their respective judiciary committees.

The bill is a bit different from the original Senate version.

Despite the proposed amendments, I still can not support the House health-care bill, nor would it pass the Senate. The bill is similar to a law in Washington, D.C. It would legalize possession of up to an ounce of marijuana for adults, but would not allow sales of the drug in stores or lounges. The bill now heads for a House floor vote. It would also expire in 2020 if the Legislature doesn't renew it.

Wednesday, the state Senate Natural Resources and Environment Committee took up the legislation for a hearing only. The House Committee on Regulated Industries then offered a substitute, which passed the House 147-14. Rep. Jeremy Faison (R-Crosby) said Tuesday that his medical marijuana bill, House Bill 495, is dead because senators were afraid to vote for it.

Last session, on a almost unanimous vote, the House approved a measure that would set up licensure requirements for adaptive behavior therapists and require insurers to cover their services for children with autism spectrum disorders.
