Pokemon Go Gets Wet With a Limited-Time Water Festival

The new Water-type Pokemon Magikarp, Squirtle, Totodile, and their Evolutions are set to appear more frequently all around the world. If you're on the hunt for more Water-type Pokémon, you'll want to fire up the game starting on March 22 at 4 p.m. ET. Also, if you happen to be in an area where Water-type Pokemon are more common, you will be able to see an increased spawn rate of Gen 2 water Pokemon. As usual, this is a time-sensitive celebration, so get your dose of these water 'mons until March 29, 1pm PDT. The announcement also says that trainers might even encounter Lapras.

On top of this, players will have access to a new accessory for their in-game avatars: the Magikarp Hat. However, smaller timed events like this are just as important in keeping longstanding players occupied as bigger updates with much awaited features. Niantic has teased multiplayer gyms along with a trading feature and PvP battles, though release dates for those features are nowhere in sight.

Pokemon GO is now available for iOS and Android.
