Britain's Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, met with survivors of terror attacks at a hospital in France on Saturday.
During their visit, they will meet with survivors of the terrorist attacks in Paris and Nice, as well as taking in a Six Nations rugby match between France and Wales.
But it was a reminder that France remains on high alert for attacks.
"We are all lucky to be alive", she told the royals.
Talking to Vanity Fair, a trusted insider shared: "It was William's choice to go away, but make no mistake Kate wears the pants in their marriage, and she won't be happy with William's antics". She told the British royals that she wants to show the attackers that "they can not win".
Mrs Hilton said: "Kate was interested in my daughter's toy monkey she was holding and said that George had a toy rabbit called Bum Bum".
A firefighter identified only as Kevin described how he was attending a concert at the Bataclan concert hall that night when he heard gunfire.
"I was hit twice in the leg but lay there and kept quiet". The royal couple's visit to Paris has enormous political significance in the wake of the U.K.'s Brexit decision to withdraw from the European Union.
The Duchess told them: "You're very fearless". Online has learned that all throughout the trip, both Prince William and Kate Middleton looked infatuated with one another.
Prince William, second-in-line to the British throne, has been criticised by some British newspapers this week for going skiing and dancing with friends in the Swiss Alps, missing a service at London's Westminster Abbey attended by other members of the royal family.
They met with French President François Hollande to launch 'Les Voisins, ' the celebration of 'cultural ties between the United Kingdom and France, ' to ensure relationships are strong despite Brexit.
No official commemoration of Diana's death was planned during the trip, which comes just months before the 20th anniversary on August 31.
