Poca's Luke Frampton named Gatorade state boys basketball player of the year

Petty is the first player to win in consecutive years since the award's inception in 1987.

The 6-foot-7, 195-pound senior guard and forward led the Lakers to a 24-1 record and a No. 2 ranking in the USA TODAY High School Sports Expert Rankings.

This morning, the Gatorade Company announced Calvin Carter of Enosburg Falls High School has been selected Vermont's Player of the Year by Gatorade for boys basketball. Bowen averaged 22 points, six rebounds and three assists per game while shooting 59 percent from inside the arc.

"Carter can really score, but there are also so many other things he does that make his teammates better", Hazen coach Aaron Hill said in the release. "He's skilled and versatile and can control a basketball game". Frampton also has assisted with social events for people with disabilities and has volunteered locally on behalf of a food bank and youth basketball programs.

As a junior he was an all-state first team selection, an All-Cardinal Conference pick and the Kanawha Valley Defensive Player of the Year.

Poca High School senior Luke Frampton is the Gatorade West Virginia Boys Basketball Player of the Year. In the final, she scored a game-high 15 points.
