At launch, eBay will guarantee delivery in 3 days or less on 20 million eligible items, millions of which will offer free shipping.
Sellers being another important part of the online store, eBay has offered a new shipping tool to them which helps them to provide accurate delivery time to the buyers as well as the charges based on more than hundred regions. Earlier this year, Wal-Mart announced to provide free two-day shipping on more than 2 million items if customers spend at least $35, down from $50.
"While the majority on eBay already ship within three days or less, as well as for free, Guaranteed Delivery will give shoppers even faster delivery options and the confidence that their items will arrive on time", said Hal Lawton, Senior Vice President of North America at eBay in a press release. Alternatively, the buyer can also choose to return the item at no cost. I have an Amazon Prime account so if I need something in a hurry I know I can order it and it'll arrive tomorrow. However, both of those designs required some user intervention and "that was a lot to ask a casual customer", eBay's Head of Personalization and Engagement Bradford Shellhammer told Recode. Ebay is working with voluntary sellers to ensure items arrive by delivery date, guaranteed. At launch, the service will be available for 20 million items, many of which will offer free shipping. Amazon here I come!
Beginning in the USA this summer, eBay will allow some sellers to offer a "3 days or less" option, which will enable buyers to filter search results by items that promise delivery within a set period of time.
eBay's program will give sellers the ability to find new buyers by making items searchable by delivery date.
You will be able to set your shipping rate table preferences in My eBay and Seller Hub. EBay said it will prominently present guaranteed listings, giving participating sellers more exposure. If you want to compete you have to keep up.
