That's not surprising, as the growing assumption is that the Cowboys will eventually release Romo, making him much more affordable as a free agent.
Moore appeared in three games (two starts) in 2015 for an injured Tony Romo and completed 61 of 104 passed for 779 yards, four touchdowns and six interceptions.
Moore is now penciled-in as the No. 1 backup - the same spot he held at the start of training camp in 2016 until he fractured his fibula.
Rookie Dak Prescott, who opened the year as the No. 3 quarterback, instead took over with both Romo and Moore out and ended up winning the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award and was named to the Pro Bowl.
The Dallas Cowboys have announced they will resign former Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore.

The #Cowboys re-signed QB Kellen Moore, adding depth to their QB room. "Kellen would satisfy that itch. He fits here real well".

Moore went on to complete 15-of-25 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown, but also threw three interceptions in his National Football League debut against the Jets.
