Deadpool & Cable May be a Polar Comedic Duo

Reese said the casting will be announced soon.

We know that the mutant will be joined in his new adventures by Cable and Domino, but we do not yet know in what troubles he will plunge nor what other mutants could show their heads. The half-man, half-cyborg - due to make his live-action debut in Deadpool 2 - is set to become part of the fabric of the highly promising adult branch of Fox's X-Men properties, with the chosen actor facing the huge responsibility of leading the X-Force. Someone with a great deadpan thing where they can react to someone who's being insane.

Which all seems to make sense. It sounds like there's some meat to the character too, because they also want whoever plays Cable to be "physically imposing and able to emote". There's real drama and real stakes. Reese and Wernick did not confirm any of the actors but did say that some of the names were shortlisted for "Deadpool 2". However, these jokes may extend to the very backdrop in which Cable had entered the '90s comic scene.

And that's not "soon" as in, like, six months from now - production on the sequel is scheduled to begin this summer for a 2018 release, which means we'll be hearing a lot more about who's who in Deadpool 2 over the next several weeks. That's no small task. The Deadpool sequel may not feature Jackman's X-Men character but recently, another X-Men actor who died in Logan, Sir Patrick Stewart, dropped major hints that he might be reprising his role as Professor X in the Deadpool sequel. The screenwriters were asked about the candidates including Pierce Brosnan, David Harbour, Stephen Lang and Russell Crowe. There has been speculation since Cable's involvement was first announced over a year ago in the #Deadpool post-credits scene, but the wait is nearly over.

Deadpool 2 hits theaters next January.
