Recalls some wet food

Long-term effects include vomiting, diarrhea and rapid or hard breathing.

The company is recalled some of its BLUE Wilderness® Rocky Mountain RecipeTM Red Meat Dinner Wet Food for Adult Dogs because the product has the potential to contain elevated levels of naturally-occurring beef thyroid hormones.

The FDA advised Blue Buffalo of a one consumer who reported symptoms in their dog, who has now fully recovered.

The affected products were sold across the country through pet specialty and online retailers.

As of the recall date, no dogs were showing any of these symptoms, the statement said.

The recalled food should be thrown away or returned to the store of purchase for a refund, according to Blue Buffalo. The companies say that all of the dogs have made full recoveries. Shoppers can check the dates on the bottom of the wet food cans.

The Blue Buffalo Company has issued a voluntary recall of one of it's products amid concern high levels of a beef thyroid hormone could be in the food. However, if it turns out that your dog has eaten any of this food, check with your veterinarian. When these symptoms show up, immediate attention from veterinarians should be sought.

WellPet also recalled pet food product Friday due to potentially elevated levels of the beef thyroid hormone.
