NCAA: Kentucky rejects Wichita State's upset bid

Just like it did three years ago, Sunday's NCAA Tournament game between the Kentucky Wildcats and Wichita State Shockers came down to one last shot.
Kentucky's final tally was its lowest offensive output of the season, but the late defensive heroics overshadowed the team's lack of offense and kept the team's bid for a ninth national championship alive.
Kentucky's Malik Monk and Bam Adebayo combined for 27 points and 12 rebounds on Sunday, but it wasn't until each delivered a clutch blocked shot in the final 11 seconds that the No. 2 seed Wildcats earned a South Regional Sweet 16 berth. Kentucky carries a 13-game winning streak into the second leg of the prestigious event and could possibly face a rematch against the Bruins, who defeated the Wildcats 97-92 on December 3 in Lexington. But you could tell that Marshall is drunk and according to others (including Franklin), was screaming obscenities toward the referee, Kentucky coach John Calipari and the Kentucky players.
Then, of course, Bam Adebayo's rejection on Landry Shamet to close out the game.
"We knew we couldn't foul", Monk said during Sunday's post-game press conference when asked about his block. "This is a hard time for Dwight, Kelly and all of us who love him". Now, everyone is talking about it because the NCAA decided to make it a thing and they even failed at that because Franklin said he was going to post it again (which he did). "We knew they were going to shoot a three". The yin-yang of United Kingdom is that the team plays so fast on offense (top 15 in tempo) yet tries to mill you into bad shots on defense. "Dwight will be a champion, which he has been able to show since I met him, since the first time he's hugged me and to this day moving forward".
"We have a three-headed monster at the five", Marshall said. I feel like we could have played much better, but if you're not on you're a game, just do the little things.
"It entered my mind when they messed around with the ball, but I hadn't said anything", he said. "He elected to pull the trigger there so that wasn't great, to say the least". "I seen that nobody was really scoring. He's on that path, not all the way back, but he's on the path we need him on".
Percentages: FG.418, FT.667. 3-Point Goals: 7-18, .389 (Monk 2-5, De.Willis 2-5, Briscoe 1-2, Hawkins 1-2, Mulder 1-2, Fox 0-1, Gabriel 0-1).
Franklin claimed the woman was directing foul language at her husband's counterpart, United Kingdom coach John Calipari, during Sunday's second-round game between Kentucky and Wichita State in Indianapolis, as well as at some of UK's young players. Today's action features two more SEC-ACC matchups as SC faces Duke and Arkansas meets North Carolina.
"We were just playing defense", Adebayo said of his block of Shamet. "As soon as he picked it up, I knew he was going to shoot". If you follow basketball, you can clearly see that Wichita State was playing better than a 10-seed, but what did the Shockers actually accomplish this season that was worthy of anything better? Morris scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
