Instagram Adds Feature to Save Live Videos

If it was good enough to share with the world, it's probably good enough to save, right? It has since been gradually rolling out this feature to more users across the globe. After your live stream is over the content is deleted forever - unlike Facebook Live or Periscope which save your video so audiences can view it after the fact.

But if you've taken a live video you're especially proud of on Instagram, there's good news, as the photo-sharing site has introduced a new feature allowing users to save their live broadcasts.

One of the unique things about Instagram Live is that the video has always been disappearing. But you'll have the option of holding onto your video and playing it back (for posterity) later. Right now you don't have the option of broadcasting and showing old broadcasts on your Instagram page.

"We are excited by how our community is using live video to connect with their friends and followers in the moment", the post reads.

While live videos will still vanish from the app proper, you can download the video to your handset by clicking the Save button in the upper right-hand corner. Note that you won't be able to save comments, likes, number of viewers, or any other interactions, but just being able to save in the first place is a major step forward. "These updates are available as part of Instagram version 10.12 available for iOS in the Apple App Store and for Android in Google Play".
