Federal Bureau of Investigation confirms probe of Russian hack of USA election, possible Trump involvement

National Security Agency (NSA) director Admiral Mike Rogers, who was also at the packed hearing, strongly rebutted the suggestion repeated by Mr Trump's administration that the agency had asked Britain's Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) intelligence agency to spy on the US President. "It's going to be awhile and I suspect that what we are going to see Monday is more of a framing of this - the scope of the investigation rather than some earth-shattering thing". US intelligence officials have not publicly raised the possibility of contacts between the Clintons and Moscow.

Trump's March 4 tweet alleging he was the target of Obama administration wiretapping said "Just found out that Obama had my "wires tapped" in Trump Tower just before the victory".

Comey's testimony raises questions about the repeated denials from President Trump and his team that they had any improper connections with Russian Federation during the 2016 campaign - and cast in doubt his honesty in regards to his claim about wiretapping. There is no evidence that a judge ordered one either. It came back at least twice during the hearing, including once when Comey was thanked for his agency's role in recovering Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady's stolen jerseys.

Mr Trump took to Twitter before the hearing began, accusing Democrats of making up allegations about his campaign associates' contact with Russian Federation during the election.

At a press briefing Monday, White House press secretary Sean Spicer said allegations of collusion between Russian Federation and the campaign is different than actual proof. This story is FAKE NEWS and everyone knows it!

"Investigating it and having proof of it are two different things", Spicer said.

Neither the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the NSA, or the Department of Justice can substantiate Trump's claims - which he first tweeted on the morning of Saturday, March 4, according to testimony during a House Intelligence Committee hearing Monday.

Republicans tried to shift the focus to leaks.

But that's not what Trump heard.

That answer was consistent with Comey's testimony throughout the hearing, in which he avoided discussing classified information, information about specific American citizens or information shared with the president.

That's how improbable it seems that Comey actually talked about his hatred of the New England Patriots while speaking about investigations into Russia's possible involvement in the 2016 election.
