Xiaomi is aware of the demand and also, Redmi Note 4 recently made record sale of 1 million units of Redmi Note 4 in just 45 days. Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 4 in January 2017, and it is now following this up with another Redmi phone. Xiaomi may launch this as Redmi 4 and do its usual blow to the segment at Rs 4,999.
The Redmi 4 Prime might launch as is (as the "Prime" moniker is already used on the previous phone) but with different specs.
With this move, the company is trying to capture a bigger market share in the Indian market. Neither the invite, nor the Amazon teaser spell out the words Redmi 4A per se, but it is nearly entirely confirmed that it is the Redmi 4A in question.
Similarly, Xiaomi India managing director Manu Kumar Jain tweeted on Friday, as saying, "20 March: In addition to a new Redmi, we'll also announce a major milestone in @XiaomiIndia's India journey".
Looking at the promotional teasers and tweets, there is a strong possibility that company will launch Redmi 4A smartphone which was first introduced in China a year ago in November.
The Redmi 4A will be a low-end offering with a price point of around ₹5,000 with a 5 inch HD display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor. The rear camera is 13MP, while the front camera is 5MP; the battery on the Redmi 4A is 3120mAh. Lenovo doesn't have an extensive offline presence, however the Moto G5 Plus will available for purchase on Flipkart as compared to the flash sales model adopted by Xiaomi for selling the Redmi Note 4 so far. The Redmi 4A was the cheapest of the lot, and was priced at RMB 499, which translates to approximately Rs 5,000.
Amazon India is also accepting registrations for regular notifications on the upcoming Redmi device, and details on when it will launch.
Additionally, the 2GB RAM with 32GB memory version of the Redmi 4A is now available for sale at similar locations. There is no fingerprint scanner on the Redmi 4A.
It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 8 on top, and offers connectivity options like dual SIM with 4G VoLTE support, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS, Infrared. Xiaomi's flagship for the year; the Mi 6 is expected to launch in China in April.
