Academy Award-nominee Tom Hardy has signed on the line to appear in Netflix's forthcoming Original Movie, War Party. Justifying the price tag, it was reported that Tom Hardy is set to star in the project, which will be produced by Ridley Scott by way of his Scott Free Films company.
It's not the first time the pair has worked together. Life rights was part of the deal and a release date is unknown. After working with Hardy on his hit FX period drama Taboo, Ridley Scott'sScott Free Films will produce the film.
While the plot details are being kept under wraps, The Hollywood Reporter said the project will be based on real events and centered on a group of Navy SEALs.
CAA-repped Dominik made his debut with the gritty prison drama Chopper and followed that up with the lyrical Assassination of Jesse James. In fact, War Party won't even be the only military movie on Tom Hardy's docket, since he will soon be seen on-camera returning for director Christopher Nolan as a pilot in July's World War II epic Dunkirk. According to sources, competition for the project was huge with Netflix managing to outbid such studios as Amazon, Universal and Lionsgate, among others to nab the project. Hardy will star, though what exactly his role will be beyond a "decorated Navy SEAL" is so far undisclosed.
