Patrick's Day in Bangor UPDATED

Senior Citizens from Touchmark retirement home are celebrating St. Patrick's with a pub crawl.

"It's like Christmas for us", explained Cloe Cameron, guest relations manager for the Irish Times Pub.

Named one of the top Irish pubs outside of Ireland by Dublin's local newspaper in 2015, Cameron says they're expecting more than 1,000 patrons throughout the day.

While green beer won't be served at the pub, there is plenty of Guinness on tap.

More than half a million Kiwis have Irish ancestry and the last Census revealed about 14,000 people identify as being Irish-born.

One of the most prominent politicians in the U.S. was ridiculed on Thursday during an annual meeting with Irish Taoiseach Enda Kenny in Washington, after being snapped with a less-than-satisfactory pint of stout. "I'm not Irish at all".

While revelers will be invoking their St. Patrick's Day spirit, London police are encouraging those taking part in celebrations to do so responsibly.

Appleton police didn't up patrol Friday night because it says the department is already prepared to handle the crowds that come down to downtown on Friday and Saturday night. "Have a great St. Patrick's Day and, the most important thing, be safe", said Reardon.

For Paddy Murphy's in Bangor, St. Patrick's Day isn't your typical holiday. I am from a very Irish family. Just remember on St. Patrick's Day everyone is Irish.

They'll be serving a traditional Irish meal at the White Eagle Polish Hall in James Bay from 6 to 11 p.m. tonight.
