Farooq Sattar released minutes after arrest

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah's spokesperson, however, said that Farooq Sattar was not arrested by police and he did not allow the police to arrest him by fleeing from the place.

Sattar was shifted to a police station in Lyari where he was kept for an hour. The case was registered in Artillery Maidan police station.

"A consultation meeting is under way at PIB Colony to discuss the issue".

Earlier, heavy police contingents surrounded the party's provisional headquarters in the PIB Colony area.

The stage is set for arrival of supporters and workers alike as flags of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Pakistan can be seen waving everywhere.

He said that he had been arrested in relation to the August 22 case.

Later, addressing a press conference at PIB colony residence/office, Farooq Sattar demanded that cases against his party workers related to ant-state speech by MQM founder on Aug 22 must be withdrawn and all the all innocent MQM workers should be released from jails.

"If now our workers are not released from the politically motivated cases, our offices continue to remain sealed, and if the leader of Pakistan's fourth largest political party is treated in such a way, then people will get confused" he remarked.

"We took extraordinary steps on August 23, now the time has come to respect those measures, there is a policy level confusion existing right now with regards to MQM-Pakistan".

Meanwhile, MQM-P has announced that it would go ahead with its decision to celebrate the party's "Youm-e-Tasees" (founding day) today Saturday (March 18).

"Our patience must not be misconstrued as our weakness", Faisal Sabzwari, a leader of the MQM-P, warned.
