Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran is to follow in the footsteps of Snow Patrol's Lightbody Lightbody and guest star in Game Of Thrones. Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss made the announcement at the SXSW film festival in Austin, Texas on Sunday. Season 8's episode count was in flux for a while, but Benioff and Weiss confirmed at SXSW that it will only be six episodes in length. Benioff and Weiss, however, are not looking to keep the gravy train running.
Game of Thrones fans have a lot to process this week. However, the shorter season still took as long to create as the normal ten-episode run, and that's probably going to be the case for the final season as well, on which work is now underway.
While past seasons have had 10 episodes each, the upcoming penultimate Season 7, which premieres in July, will have just seven episodes.
Costume designer Michele Clapton accepts the Outstanding Fantasy Television Series award for "Game of Thrones" from actors Jimmi Simpson and Maggie Siff onstage at The 19th CDGA (Costume Designers Guild Awards) with Presenting Sponsor LACOSTE at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on February 21, 2017 in Beverly Hills, California.
Hill has written episodes for seasons 5 and 6 and Cogman's written at least one episode every season to date, while Benioff and Weiss have served as the show's main writers. But, you know, they don't actually want to be involved with it. "I did sort of one major scene in each episode". In fact, Benioff added that he thinks "it's better for them to get new blood in with new visions". I told you guys it would be OK, but I had no idea.
And when asked which cast members they'd bring back, the showrunners were in agreement. The series, based on James Corden's popular Late Late Show segment, finds celebrities teaming up (like Shaquille O'Neal and John Cena) to drive around town while singing their hearts out and surprising fans along the way.
