KCMO police identify body as Wichita woman

At about 6 p.m., Friday Team Watters Sonar pulled from the Missouri River at Platte Landing Park the Ford Focus that belongs to Anderson. It's unclear how Anderson's vehicle wound up at Platte Landing Park in Parkville.

20-year-old Toni Anderson, a student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, had been missing since January 15th.

Investigators found Anderson's body inside of her submerged Ford Focus in the Missouri River on Friday evening.

The window was down and her seat belt was off, KCTV reports.

Anderson went missing back on January 15 when she was stopped by a North Kansas City police officer for an improper lane change.

The parents of Toni Anderson had previously said the body inside the auto was that of their daughter.

Moments later, she disappeared, her vehicle Global Positioning System failed and her cellphone "went dark".

Kansas City police said they have no record of any of their officers pulling over Anderson.

The officer watched her drive to a nearby convenience store.

Authorities also have surveillance footage of the woman, but are not releasing it as it is part of their investigation.
