Airtel's fighting back against Reliance Jio's onslaught by promising to give away 30GB of data at no charge.
Users must note that the monthly cap for Airtel's free data is set at 10GB. Once you tap on the surprise offer and claim your data, you will get an SMS regarding the activation of services. The offer provides Airtel postpaid customers with an option to claim up to 30GB of free 4G/3G mobile data. Customer will need to download the MyAirtel app for their respective app stores to avail this offer. The move is aimed at attracting more users on the Reliance Jio network, which has 100 million customers now. In our case, we've subscribed to Airtel's 10GB data plan, which anyway has been doubled over the past few months to 20GB. The offer is available to Airtel's postpaid users.
Offered as a part of Airtel Surprise, the free mobile data offer can be redeemed by customers using the My Airtel app.
As for prepaid subscribers, Airtel recently launched a new pack which allows them to access 1GB of data per day for 28 days. Users will be given 10GB/month free data for 3 months.
Other similar data offerings from rival include Vodafone's Rs 1,299 plan that offers 3000 minutes of local + STD calling and around 8GB of data. The Rs. 549 pack comes with 1GB of data per day without any cap on timings.
In view of rival Reliance Jio's aggressive offer of "Prime" membership with Rs.99 and Rs.303 for 30 GB per month broadband width, Airtel has been forced to rescind on its offers but nowhere was it near Jio.
