Aishwaryaa's Bharatanatyam Performance At UN Criticized

Rajinikanth's daughter and actor Dhanush's wife Aishwaryaa, a trained Bharatnatyam dancer, performed the classical dance at the United Nations (UN) on the occasion of International Women's Day.

Megastar Rajnikanth's daughter, Aishwaryaa's Bharatnatyam dance video is going viral on the internet and she was heavily trolled for her awkward performance at the worldwide platform.

Aishwarya's supporters claim that the video was just a part of her performance and the expressions were to depict how Durga kills asura. While speaking recently, Indian classical and contemporary dancer, Anita Ratnam said that there was no footwork from Aishwaryaa and her postures were awful.

Aishwaryaa, trained in Bharatanatyam, is the UN Goodwill Ambassador for Women to promote gender equality in India. On her Facebook page she shared the same video and posted, "THIS IS WHAT BHARATANATYAM BECOMES".

Before her performance, Aishwaryaa said that Meenakshi Chittaranjan is her guru, who oversaw the performance as part of the audience.

Sowmya Ramineni wrote: Ashwarya the performance was total disgrace to India while so many great talents are there in India.Reminds me of Salamgai Oli kamalhaasan who showed beautifully what is real dance in Pancha Bootham. So sad to see misuse of power and bringing disgrace to India. Aishwaryaa is neither dancing to lyrics nor to bol. But Aishwaryaa R Dhanush was the trending topic on social media platforms and it was not courtesy her proud lineage. She made her directorial debut with the 2012 thriller 3, starring Dhanush.
