Although Fils-Aime declined to cite specific numbers, he told the Seattle Times that Nintendo plans to ship 2 million consoles worldwide this month. Though it had been criticized greatly for its high price and a comparatively weak roster of launch titles, but widespread queues and sold-out stores suggest strong demand for the console. In the UK, Nintendo has sold 80,000 units upon its release. The PS4 may offer the closest comparison for the Switch in Japan, though - Sony's console shifted 322,100 units in the country when it debuted there in February 2014, only 8,400 more than Switch's figures this week. A teardown analysis has revealed that the antenna in the left Joy-Con sits right next to your palm when gaming, virtually ensuring lousy connectivity.
Puyo Puyo Tetris is the Switch game that made it to the no 10 spot on the list with 12,854 copies sold. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was a nice touch, and the game is breaking records of its own as the fastest-selling title.
Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been a highly commended game by critics and was named as one of the best games of the generation.
And there is clearly some metrics cherry-picking at play here, since Nintendo didn't publicly measure the Wii's success based on the first two days of sales when it launched back in 2006.
United Kingdom sales estimates published earlier in the week indicated that the Switch had sold double that of its predecessor, the Wii U, over comparable launch weekends, though around half of the Xbox One and a third of the PlayStation 4.
In an article by Le Figaro, it was stated that the Switch sold about 105,000 units in France in its first few days, beating out the Wii's 95,000 sales in its first weekend in the country. The fact that I'm not tethered to my TV when I want to play a console-quality Nintendo game is, quite frankly, wonderful.
Next time, I'll talk about the premiere title for the Switch, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. If you're buying a Switch, it's probably for just one game. This adapter was made available in December a year ago, but 8Bitdo has already released a free firmware update recently, thus making it sure that the adapter allows users to connect Joy-Con controllers into the NES Classic Edition.
