Tommy Hilfiger Parent Company To Offer Android Wear 2.0 Smartwatches

These devices won't launch until the fall of 2017.

Movado Group has joined the Android Wear family and will soon launch its own "smartwatch collection".

"We are thrilled to partner with Movado, a longtime leader and one of the most iconic brands in the watch industry", said David Singleton, Vice President of Android Engineering at Google. Movado is the latest watchmaker to partner with Google, after Swarovski.

Though no images were shown off of the Movado Connect, the luxury timepiece maker promises a full reveal at Baselworld 2017, a yearly worldwide watch and jewellery expo planned for the end of this month. Movado confirmed that its smartwatches will be available in Caribbean, United Kingdom, Canada and the United States.

Movado, a recognized brand when it comes to analog watches, is moving into the smartwatch territory. Movado's press release did say that it will launch five men styles of the Movado Connect. Each dial design also includes 3-4 customizable elements including features such as a wide array of complications, backgrounds, and watch hands creating a multitude of possibilities for consumers to create the look they desire.

This isn't the first time that high-end designer brands partnered with Google to launch Android Wear-powered smartwatches. Complications are like widgets that sit on the watch face, offering a shortcut and a brief glance into specific apps, such as your calendar or your fitness activity.

Movado Group also specifically mentions the Android Pay compatibility so, the company will likely to feature NFC and the more improved Google Assistant.

Rest assured, Movado will be putting the Google partnership to good use, and Movado Inc. -licensed brands Tommy Hilfiger and Hugo Boss also will be rolling out their own collections of smartwatches for fall 2017. Android Wear 2.0 also allows users to better manage their notifications and reply quickly to messages.

Android Wear 2.0 took nearly a whole year to be released after its announcement in May 2016.
