Champions League: Partying Dortmund watched 'insane' Barcelona comeback - Tuchel

The German side killed off their opponents f with two quick fire goals through Aubameyang and Pulisic before the former sealed his hat-trick late on.

Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel: "That was the flawless time for "Auba" to get his hat-trick".

"We didn't start well, conceding after only four minutes, but then we found our way. If you are into the last eight you want to go to the last four and that's what we will try hard to do".

Ousmane Dembele's corner was flicked on by Pulisic to Aubameyang, who headed home at the far post to delight the sell-out Signal Iduna Park crowd.

Roman Burki was on hand to save a Cervi shot in the 23rd minute and shortly afterwards the goalkeeper was tested by a Luisao header.

The Gabon worldwide, who endured a awful evening in the 1-0 first leg loss in which he missed a hatful of chances and had a penalty saved, was back at his lethal best.

Benfica grew in confidence as the half wore on and Dortmund's defence wobbled, but it finished 1-0 at the break.

Then Pulisic scored in the 59th minute to make it 2-0 with this slick effort.

Julian Weigl's pinpoint pass to the left wing was destined for Dembele, but Marcel Schmelzer muscled out his teammate to flash a brilliant low cross into the Benfica six yard box, and Aubameyang simply steered it in from close range.

He hit his third goal of the night - sealing his first hat-trick in Europe's top competition - on 85 minutes when Erik Durm's run and cross from the right handed him a simple tap-in.

But with a record of 14 defeats and just two victories in 22 European games on German soil, Rui Vitoria's side face quite the challenge ahead of them. "We watched the last two minutes of the (Barcelona-PSG) game, we thought we were the sensational news of the round, but that clearly wasn't to be", Tuchel said with a smile.

"We are focused, we take it step by step, and that is a great development for the team and a really good phase for us at the moment".
