The silent assassin from San Antonio Spurs, Kawhi Leonard, showcased his skills once again, making him more eligible to bag another MVP and Defensive Player of the year.
"I hope [the voters] understand", said teammate Pau Gasol. The way he's playing, the way he's contributing on both ends of the floor.
The NBA ruled the officials made an "incorrect non-call" on the play.
Leonard is not short on offensive credentials.
Yup, that's right. Just moments after dropping a game-high 39 points in San Antonio's 112-110, Leonard had to step into a bathroom to produce a urine sample.
This was exemplified last night when the Spurs went toe to toe with the sharp-shooting Houston Rockets, in what was a very compelling match-up. Leonard hit both free throws to put the Spurs up by four.
Harden said he got fouled on his attempt, which gave Leonard extra time to get back into the play. "So it was like, 'OK, go guard him'".
But wouldn't you know it? "I just go home with my family". "Not that many people, on a consistent basis, an entire game, game after game". We don't talk about championships. We just play the game. The Spurs now have their eighth win with the Rockets defeat. He was already named MVP of The Finals when the Spurs beat the Heat in 2014 and now, at 25, is still finding out more of what he's capable of doing. Manu Ginobili was in shock on the bench.
Watching Kawhi Leonard play basketball is like the way it feels when you slowly pull that plastic film off the screen of your new phone when you finally buy a new phone. When asked about MVP, Leonard had this to say. And by the end of it, he wasn't advocating for Russell Westbrook or James Harden to win the NBA's top individual award, as just about everyone else has so far.
Before you get pissed and tell me the Rockets are 44-19, I already know this. Those who did see it observed the way Leonard single-handedly secured a win in the final minute in a way few other players in the league could.
