Hyundai FE Fuel Cell Concept Has Nearly 500 Miles of Range

The stack itself gets a 30 per cent boost in power density, too - enough to increase the range of the vehicle to nearly 500 miles between hydrogen refuelling stops. These 14 cars will be electric, hybrid gas-electric, plug-in hybrid or hydrogen fuel cell powered, like this concept.

Having established itself as a global leader for hydrogen transportation, the company has reaffirmed its commitment to fuel cell vehicle development at the Geneva Motor Show 2017. "Fuel cell gives you the best comparison to petrol".

The South Korean manufacturer of the auto introduced the new Hyundai i30 Wagon at the Geneva International Motor Show on March 7, 2017, ahead of its global launch scheduled for the second half of the year.

Vice chairman of Hyundai Woong Chul Yang said "Hyundai Motor has a heritage of building innovative, fuel-efficient vehicles that advance the automotive industry's environmental progress".

THE Hyundai FE Fuel Cell Concept has revealed the Korean carmaker's potential replacement for the hydrogen-powered ix35 SUV that has pioneered the consumer-facing side of the technology.

The new concept auto was one of 18 vehicles showcased by Hyundai Motor and its smaller affiliate Kia Motors the Geneva motor show. Compared to the Tucson ix35 Fuel Cell, the new fuel cell system is 20 percent lighter, 10 percent more efficient and has a 30 percent higher power density for the fuel stack.

The design of the auto is inspired by nature along with water, which is the only emission of the vehicle.

Set for launch in 2018, the concept auto features portable battery packs, which can be charged by the car's energy output to power mobile passenger devices. The FE Fuel Cell is based on the concept of nature and water, which shows the Zero emission capabilities of the company. In the trunk, the auto features a storage and charging space for an electric scooter, something that was first seen at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It also comes with an internal air humidifier, which recycles the water emitted by hydrogen energy and circulates it inside the cabin. The vehicle is created to run for more than 800 kilometers between refueling, acknowledging the current limited hydrogen infrastructure.

Hyundai has unveiled the FE Fuel Cell Concept on its Geneva Motor Show stand and confirmed that it'll launch a hydrogen fuel-cell SUV in 2018.
