Alt-J announce new album 'Relaxer' alongside latest single '3WW'

Alternative indie rock trio Alt-J is back with new music after a three-year hiatus.

Alt-J have share new song "3WW" alongside the news of their forthcoming album Relaxer, which is out June 9 via Canvasback Music. "3WW" showcases how much Alt-J has matured musically since their debut five years ago and their ability to go platinum despite their non-traditional song structures. Minimal shakers and a muted bass drum back the mysterious music, slowly building into the first verse. Not only that, but they gave us the first track off the album, the cryptically titled "3WW". This Is All Yours reached number one in the United Kingdom and number four in the US, earning the band its first Grammy nomination, for Best Alternative Album. The vocals evolve beautifully just after the two-minute mark, with flourishes of island guitar. The trailer carried the title "00110011 01110111 01110111", which is binary code for "3WW". It'll be the band's third album to day, following the release of the Mercury Award-winning An Awesome Wave in 2012 and their follow-up record This Is All Yours in 2014. The grisly (but pixelated) album artwork is shown above, while the complete eight-song tracklist can be found below.
