Will April Give Birth Today? World Captivated By Pregnant Giraffe Livestream

The 15-year-old giraffe, a resident of Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville, NY, has skyrocketed to fame with millions worldwide tuning into the park's cameras to watch and wait for the arrival of April's calf. April was simply "stating" she was done with her exam and reminding everyone this is her space.

It took us a minute, but once we saw it, we can't unsee it!

Like any birth it was definitely a messy affair, but it's especially worth watching if you've been expectantly tuning in to the live stream of April the giraffe.

Dietrich told ABC7 she likes to watch April when she can't sleep at night, so she and her husband thought it would be amusing to order a mask and make their own version of the giraffe cam. She's now pregnant with her fourth calf and lives adjacent to the calf's father Oliver "Ollie" who is five-years-old.

Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville began streaming February 23.

A photo posted to the zoo's facebook page Saturday showed April's rotund belly curving out and downward, a sign that she's nearing the home stretch of her pregnancy, says owner Jordan Patch.

But it also isn't the first time the birth of a giraffe was streamed live for the world to see. As the Animal Adventure Park is primarily an educational learning zoo that works with many schools and community organizations, the live cam does provide educational outreach.

For now, Patch has expressed a willingness to keep the live giraffe cam up for at least several days after the calf is born. - Scroll down or click the picture to watch the 2008 birth.
