In an update to a story WAND brought you Saturday morning, the Champaign County Coroner has released preliminary autopsy results regarding the death of a University of IL student Friday night.
Police say they responded t the apartment complex at 51 E. John St., C, shortly after 10:30 p.m., where they found the victim, 23-year-old Jonathan Morales, unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana 11:50 p.m., according to a statement from Champaign police.
The incident happened during what students call "Unofficial Saint Patrick's Day" on the campus.
Police said the student's fall appears to be an accident. Morales' death was the third to occur during celebrations of "Unofficial", university officials told the student-run Daily Illini. We will provide more information as it becomes available. Instead, Unofficial takes place before students leave for break and "is typically celebrated by donning green clothing and regalia and consuming large quantities of alcohol with friends at a bar or private party, often starting early in the morning", according to a history of the day. We lost a young man.
Originally from suburban Franklin Park, Morales was a communication major at U. of I., authorities said.
