President leaves for Indonesia

"The premier and her entourage members will take off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 8:40am on Monday", Sheikh Hasina's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said on Saturday, reports BSS.

The flight is scheduled to land at Halim Pardana Kusuma International Airport, Jakarta at 3 p.m. (Jakarta time).

Indonesia, as the current chair of the association, will host the first ever IORA Leaders' Summit on March 7 under the theme of "Strengthening Maritime Cooperation for a Peaceful, Stable, and Prosperous Indian Ocean".

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali is accompanying the prime minister.

During her three-day visit, Hasina is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena.

She is scheduled to return home on Wednesday.

The Tourism Ministry will offer investment proposals for 10 new tourist destination to countries participating in the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) conference.

Along with the official meetings, IORA will also engage the private sector through a "Business Summit" with the aim of deepening business cooperation in the region.

IORA members comprise South Africa, Australia, Bangladesh, Comoro, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mozambique, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, the Seychelles, Singapore, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand and Yemen.

The documents have been discussed in the senior officials meeting on yesterday and got supports from 21 IORA member states as well as seven dialogue partners.

The seven dialogue partners are China, France, Japan, the United States, Egypt, Germany and the United Kingdom.
