Mercedes-AMG teases GT Concept

Its sole standalone model at present is the GT sports vehicle but in the coming years we could see up to two more added to the lineup.

Mercedes-AMG are set to release a four-door variant of its AMG GT sports auto. A teaser for the concept, which is simply labeled the GT, has been released to build excitement. According to the teaser shot, it is known that the model is being known as the GT Concept at the moment. Did you notice how Mercedes-AMG doesn't refer to it as a sedan? The fact it has space for a plate shows how close it could be to production.

Earlier reports say the GT4 won't ride on the same platform as the existing Mercedes-AMG GT, but rather it will be underpinned by the company's modular rear architecture (MRA) that's found on the C63, E63 and S63 models.

A centrally mounted exhaust is spotted in the concept image which is appropriately accentuated by a huge exhaust and the door handles seems to have borrowed its inspiration from the new generation Tesla cars.

According to reports, it is a replacement of sorts to the CLS Shooting Brake with a liftback-style rear end to compete with Porsche's newborn Panamera Sports Tourer.

For now that's all we know about this striking new concept auto, but we'll have more details when we see the vehicle live on motor show stands next week at the Geneva event - so check back on Tuesday morning for more.
