City have found a rich vein of form at a key point in the season with the FA Cup still up for grabs and the chance of a UEFA Champions League quarter-final looming.
"Victory was the 10th away league win this season for City - the most in Premier League, while they also recorded their first back-to-back clean sheets in the league under Guardiola and the third successive league double over Sunderland".
Manchester City wins the match with 2 goals and Sunderland lose the match with 0 goals.
There is then a further fortnight without football for the Black Cats due to the global breakm ahead of a very busy, pressure-filled April fixture list.
And with that rousing thought cemented firmly in our minds we look ahead to the relatively simple task of turning over Manchester City.
"It's a pity that the distance between Chelsea is so big, but that's true", he said.
"He can improve. He has to know we are going to push him a lot, and the moment he relaxes he is going to be in another place, he will not be on the pitch because we want to help him".
"We only have one more game in March, the way the month works out".
Jan Kirchhoff could feature for the Under-23s tonight against Manchester United at Hetton as he continues his comeback from injury.
We played good. Our build up was much better.
"The two full-backs, the midfield boys trying to stop them". With the quality players we have we started to move the ball about. Today, we hit the post and it comes out and we just don't quite get the rebound. We know that it is going to be tough.
The Catalan knows that gap may ultimately prove too big to bridge and is equally aware that they can not afford to lose any games in the league, FA Cup or Champions League as the season draws to a close. "We have to just hope our fortune changes in the coming weeks". This was always a tough fixture, to come here and beat Manchester City. I know the players better, they know me.
It is highly likely that after this weekend results the Black Cats will be five points off safety.
