Spurs Coach shoots down 'unflattering' Barca links

Luis Enrique's announcement on Wednesday that he will quit Barca at the end of the season has sparked a wave of speculation as to his successor with Pochettino's name prominent but the former Argentina defender refused to fan the flames.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has clarified suggestions he would never take the Barcelona job because of his links to Espanyol.

The Spurs boss insisted he had instead said he was born with a "ball in his arm", as a metaphor for him understanding how football works.

But is it flattering to be mentioned as a candidate for one of the biggest jobs in football?

"I saw [my name] because it's a big list - 100 names", Pochettino told reporters on Friday. "Ball, not bull. I understand very well the business and you do, too". It was an important time for me to understand that even though you can add good players and staff from outside the club, the academy is important as that is the identity of the club.

Nonetheless, after the game, TalkSport pundit Parlour had this to say about Spurs and their manager Pochettino. I don't think about being flattered.

Tottenham play Everton on Sunday.

"If Harry Kane is not playing, they miss him badly".

Spurs have won their last 10 matches in a row at White Hart Lane, in what is set to be their final season at the ground while their new stadium is completed next door.

"I try to be honest and fair and I'm happy with how he's reacted in the last few weeks".

And Henry said that to attract big names to White Hart Lane, winning trophies is a must and thinks the FA Cup is a good place to start, with Tottenham facing Millwall in the quarter finals. Every time we play there, we feel a special moment.
