Koeman: I'll ask Pochettino on Sunday if he fancies the Barcelona job

I am at Tottenham, one of the biggest clubs in Europe. "It's like if I was gone I saw a list of 50 names to replace me".

So when today in the course of his usual pre-match press conference his links to the vacancy at Barcelona was brought up, Pochettino leapt at the chance to make himself clear.

Asked to explain his reference to "the bull", Pochettino said: "Only I try to explain I know very well the business of football". I don't take it like a flattering. He did not say "bull" but "ball".

Yet asked on Friday whether his Espanyol past would make it hard for him to move to Barcelona, should the Catalans ask him to succeed Luis Enrique at the end of the campaign, Pochettino was non-committal.

"Mauricio Pochettino of Spurs ticks the same boxes but both men are more than now occupied with their present clubs and in truth Barcelona would much rather look to either a free agent or at least someone who is coming to the end of their contract". Ball, not bull. I understand very well the business and you do, too. We play very good football, [have an] exciting team and very good players. We have very good players so it is normal we call the attention of the rest of the clubs, football people around the world. "Only that we are part of that business and our names always appear on the lists".

The Mirror reported on Friday that the £5.5million-a-year contract Pochettino signed last May, which runs until 2021, has put the London club in a strong position to fight off interest in their manager.

The rumours are likely to persist for now, but Pochettino is already planning for next season and identifying transfer targets.

"It's a metaphorical example to say that I understand football, the business".

"I don't want to speak because if you speak too much or if you speak, it's possible that people can twist my words", Pochettino said. He said I am okay. I understand the business and I can understand that my name is on some list - like if I go and there appears some list of managers who are at other clubs.
