'Chicago Fire' Crossover First Look: A Warehouse Goes Up in Flames

There was a Hell of a lot of Dick Wolf on NBC last night with the solid preview ofChicago Justice (1.7/7) at the tail end of a Windy City crossover on the net. Local programming note: This episode is part of a three-part crossover with "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago PD", but WRAL will have ACC basketball at 8 p.m.

The crossover episodes for the Chicago shows tend to lead to slightly higher ratings than normal ratings for the shows involved for the week. Chicago Fire kicked off the night at 8 p.m. and garnered a 1.7 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic and 9.06 million viewers. And Med isn't left out - though it won't air an episode Wednesday, the show's doctors will appear throughout the night. Chicago P.D. and Chicago Fire character Chief Investigator Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda) will be a regular cast member Chicago Justice. In the next episode, ratings tend to go back to normal. In total viewers, it's NBC's best Wednesday (9.133 million) with in-season series programming since November 12, 2014.

CBS and ABC tied for No. 2 status for the night, though ABC was greatly diminished from its typical Wednesday showing on account of the continued middling performance from miniseries When We Rise.

Closing the night, the series premiere of Chicago Justice averaged 8.7 million total viewers and a 1.7 demo rating to put up quite the impressive numbers ahead of its time slot debut this Sunday at 9/8c as part of NBC's new Sunday night line-up.

The CW averaged a 0.5 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic and was watched by 1.31 million viewers.
