Bush on His Friendship with Michelle Obama: 'A Genuine Expression of Affection'

She kind of likes my sense of humor and anybody who likes my sense of humor, I immediately like, ' Bush reportedly said of Michelle Obama during a media interaction the other day.

On Thursday evening, former President George W. Bush appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

"I think when you read [their stories] you'll be moved by stories of courage, injury, recovery willingness to help others", he said.

I would say something, and then Bridges would say, 'Well this is what he really meant, ' " Bush said with a laugh.

A panel of portraits painted by former President George W. Bush are on display at the Bush Presidential Center and LIbrary in Dallas.

Sitting down with the comedian for a chummy 20-minute talk, the former president waxed about his own time in office, his second career as a painter, and UFOs.

But President Bush says it shouldn't be surprising at all.

'I love humor, the best humor is when you make fun of yourself, ' President Bush said, carefully resisting Kimmel's response: 'Tell that to the president!'.

"I needle her a little bit and around her, I'm fairly lighthearted", he said. Now, more than one month later, Bush spoke to People about his viral moment.

Bush explained there's free time in a president's day if room is made for it.

"He said, 'We invented it, '" Bush stated. "I said, 'Well, let me ask you this: Did he come up with 'misunderestimate?'".

It seems the bond that drawing the Bushes and Obamas together is that they share a passion for military personnel, military families and veterans.

Bush is promoting a book of his paintings of wounded veterans.

Bush is now promoting his book, Portraits of Courage, with proceeds going to the George W. Bush Presidential Center, a non-profit that helps post-9/11 veterans transitions to civilian life.
