Mayock: Eagles can get starters at both WR, CB in draft

"And to tell you where this draft is for tackles, the two top guys - Ramczyk and Garett Bolles from Utah - are both one-year starters in major college football, which is kind of fantastic", Mayock said.

"It wouldn't bother me at all if they drafted a couple corners, and I think they could".

"Then you watch the pocket mechanics break down, and I think he starts to panic a little bit when he sees a flash of color from the other team. I'm not sure either of them are going to be available at No. 20".

On how Detroit should go about improving their run game: "I'm always bullish on inside out to help yourself in the run game with an offensive lineman".

"In my opinion", Mayock said on the call, via CSNNE.com's Phil Perry, "if I'm the Cleveland Browns and I've got No. 1 and No. 12, if I came away with either (defensive end Myles) Garrett or (defensive tackle) Jonathan Allen at No. 1, and gave up the 12th pick in the draft to get Garoppolo?"

The offensive-tackle class is so shallow this year that Mayock felt his No. 3 player at the position in this year's class, Troy's Antonio Garcia, would be a third-rounder "at best" most years.

Providing better protection for quarterback Philip Rivers will be one of the key goals for the Chargers entering this year's draft. He could also play tackle, obviously.

Mayock isn't much of a fan, at least not of their National Football League readiness.

"And we've had a bunch of tackles over the last six or seven years that have either been busts, or have struggled to play until about the third year". I mean, they took Hackenberg a year ago.

The impact of the stylistic differences on quarterbacks has been well-documented, but its impact on tackles is also profound and has led to more draft misfires for tackles taken near the top of the draft in recent years than previous decades. "I think Jordan Leggett is a different conversation - he's about 6-5 from Clemson".

McKenzie said he's put on some pounds - now at 176 - since his final game at Georgia when he had four catches for 103 yards. There are reports the New York Giants think Manning has two or three more season left with the team, this one per 247 Sports.

But a quick-fix prospect such as Conklin might not be available this spring.

"Yeah, I think one of the messages in this year's draft at edge, corner and safety is there is great quality at the top, but there is depth throughout", Mayock said.

Mayock would be on board if the Browns were to do that. Defensive backs end the combine with Monday workouts. "Whoever is starting for Denver, a good pass-receiving tight end who's a matchup nightmare can really help".

"Njoku is a freaky kid that looks like a wide receiver, and you can't believe that he's actually as big as he is", Mayock said. Given the Giants need (as of right now) at tight end, he might be a good fit to stay in the tristate area.

The league announced compensatory draft picks for the 2017 NFL Draft, but the Bills did not receive any.

Earlier in the conference call, Mayock touched on Toledo's Michael Roberts as another tight end for rounds 2-4, noting that Roberts needed to improve his blocking, but had potential.

"I think inside linebacker but Reuben Foster is probably gone", Mayock said. I think what's going to happen at the combine is you're going to see this explosive athlete running around.
