Marvel's The Inhumans: Black Bolt Cast for Upcoming ABC Series

Journalist Duane Shimogawa reports that Marvel's The Inhumans will be shot in an old Navy base in Kalaeloa. However, today marked an important announcement: the casting of Anson Mount to play Blackagar Boltagon, King of the Inhumans.

According to Marvel, Inhumans will explore "the never-before-told epic adventure of the royal family including Black Bolt, the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, with a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city". Because of that, he stays silent pretty much all the time, except for when comic book writers come up with little cheats that allow him to speak (something that the TV show will probably adopt).

That actor is Hell On Wheels star Anson Mount, with Marvel Television's Jeph Loeb saying that Mount "loves the challenge of playing a character who will only communicate silently" and that he'll bring an "imposing" and "regal persona" to the character. Described as a clever and charming Inhuman, the character is fiercely devoted to the people of Attilan, especially his brother, though he harbors an intense desire to wear the crown himself. Marvel has been slow-rolling the Inhumans into the world of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. the past few seasons, though we've gotten no hints about the Royal Family up to this point.

Showrunner Scott Buck and producer Jeph Loeb share their praise for Mount's casting.

The first two Inhumans' episodes are going to appear in IMAX theatres on Labor Day.
