Andrew Bogut has chosen the Cavaliers

He was averaging 3.0 points and 8.3 boards for the Dallas Mavericks before he was traded Thursday to Philadelphia.

Bogut is a big man Cleveland has coveted all season.

Andrew Bogut has committed to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers upon clearing waivers, according to league sources.

Bauman says the decision was "a lot harder than Bogut anticipated". Cleveland also signed three-time All-Star Deron Williams on Monday after a contract buyout. At the trade deadline, he was dealt to the Philadelphia 76ers in the deal that sent Nerlens Noel to the Mavs. So, the Sixers and Bogut reached a buyout agreement this week, paving the way for the veteran to join a contending team.

Shams Charania of the Vertical and Marc Stein of ESPN both reported the news of the 32-year-old Australian coming to the Cavs.

He has dealt with hamstring and knee issues this season, which is why he has only played in 26 games.

To make room for Bogut, the Cavs will have to cut a player from their roster.

Cavs fans remember Bogut playing for the Golden State Warriors in each of the past two NBA Finals matchups.

Bogut could be in line to play against the Warriors if the teams match up in an unprecedented third consecutive NBA Finals.

Bogut is a rim protector with career averages of 10 points and 8.9 boards over his 12-year career.
