That's the Way the Party Crumbles

Earlier this week he tweeted about Ellison, saying "he was the one who predicted early that I would win!" After Trump's election, how do they rebuild and start winning again? He used the race as a way to raise his national profile, drawing acclaim as a rising star of the party, but dropped out ahead of the first round of voting Saturday without endorsing another candidate.
Perez ultimately won, but Ellison's near victory proved that such rhetoric is not, as the Anti-Defamation League declared, "disqualifying".
Left-wing groups and activist went all in for Mr. Ellison, who also had the backing of Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer of New York, Sen.
Hours after he was sworn in as president, Trump "made it harder for first-time home buyers to buy a home", Perez said.
Perez will face challenges in trying to unify and rejuvenate a party still reeling from the November 8 loss of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and anxious to channel the growing grassroots resistance to Trump into political support for Democrats at all levels of government across the country. Despite Ellison's defeat, the burgeoning power of the party's left flank was evident on a number of fronts. Neo-liberal stooges still have a place in the Democratic party. Paid DNC consultants also have a vested interest in maintaining the DNC status quo.
Perez's experience in politics is thin, writesVox.com. "@keithellison and I, and Democrats united across the country, will be your worst nightmare". In contrast, Ellison represented the more left-wing side inspired by Sanders. The threat by OJ Simpson counsel and Harvard Law School professor Alan Dershowitz to leave the party if Ellison won did not appear to have a substantial effect on voters. He becomes the first Latino head of the Democratic Party. The ban, which was first implemented by president-elect Barack Obama in 2008, had been dropped past year by the previous party chair, Florida Rep. Bernie Sanders during last year's primary campaign. He cited corporate opposition to ousted North Carolina Gov.
In comments on his Twitter account, the Republican Trump said he "could not be happier" for Perez, "or for the Republican party".
On NBC News' "Meet the Press", he said Trump "hasn't proposed anything but chaos". Perez, who is Hispanic, has a long history of pushing for legal acceptance of illegal immigration. But that is all the more reason to throw them a win. "Tom has spent his entire career fighting for working Americans and Vermont Democrats look forward to partnering with him to bring meaningful reform to the DNC". "Are they really going to engage with people in the streets?"
Perez succeeds Chairwoman Donna Brazile, who led the party as interim chief in the fallout from disclosure of the DNC hacking.
"No, he doesn't have a point", Sanders stated. Two-time former Democratic Party nominee for Governor of CT. The Sanders wing is ascendant in Nebraska and Wyoming, and setting its sights on Florida and MI. The former President feels an obligation to place the Party, which he'd expected to turn over to Hillary Clinton, in trusted hands.
In a conference call with reporters, Dean - whose insistence on a "50-state strategy" has been referenced repeatedly by all of the DNC chair candidates - said he had preferred Buttigieg for some time but had declined to endorse anyone out of his admiration for each of the candidates. The numbers reflect Sanders' forces growing strength in the party, a gradual upheaval that may only be sped along by Perez's victory. Under DNC rules, delegates from US territories cast half rather than full votes.
There were numerous responses in support of Perez and calling for party unity as well, but the number of negative responses could suggest trouble for Democrats. After all, he's got an election next month.
