A teenager survived after his auto plunged seven stories from a parking garage roof and landed on top of a store in Houston, officials said on Sunday.
Investigators believe he accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.
"Oh yeah, he was covered in debris but was able to walk and seemed like he was in shock, so he didn't say much of anything", said Capt. Al Castillo with the Houston Fire Department. He had a few cuts and bruises, according to officials, and was then taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported, the station reported.
Images showed the vehicle partially lodged in the shop's roof with a large hole beside it.
The driver was able to walk away with minor injuries.
Crews were able to remove the Camry from the top of the shopping center by using a crane.
And about 2 to 3 inches of water, resulting from damaged pipes, inundated the store, added Ambrose.
