After touching on some of Trump's biggest falsehoods (that he had the "biggest electoral college win since Ronald Reagan", that the USA murder rate is the highest it's been in 47 years, and that "I am the least anti-Semitic person that you've ever seen in your entire life"-Stewart retorted, "you're not even the least anti-Semitic person in the clip we showed!"), Stewart explained that he knows Trump is "lying on goal", because "nobody says "believe me" unless they are lying", and Trump uses the word "constantly".
Much as he did during the Republican National Convention last summer, Stewart took over Colbert's show and lamented the road he believes Trump is taking the country down, including banning members of the media from a White House press briefing.
The Trump administration's war on the news media hit a new low on Friday when Press Secretary Sean Spicer excluded The New York Times, CNN, the Los Angels Times, and BuzzFeed from a press gaggle, Stephen Colbert said on Monday's Late Show, though "BuzzFeed was excluded because Spicer didn't like the answer he got for 'Which Gilmore Girl are you?' Such a Lorelai".
During this period of "self-reflection and improvement", Stewart suggested the media find a meaningful way to spend its time. The blabbermouth who's as thin-skinned and narcissistic as you are. It didn't. You know why? "It is time to get your groove back, media". As Trump usually does, he gave no specific details but did say that the plan would be "really really good". Kick him to the kerb'. "Because 70-year-old men don't get less cranky or racist as time goes by", Stewart joked. "Do you think he's gonna come on our show?".
If this is not a call to arms, we don't know what is. "Nobody says 'believe me" unless they're lying". "Nobody says the phrase "believe me" unless they are lying", he said.
"But here's my point, media".
But let's go back to the "say it to my face" challenge. Self-improvement! Take up a hobby.
"So you really think the media is going to take this opportunity for self reflection and get better at their jobs?" "I have a tunnel that I've built straight from my farm", Stewart explained of his appearance.
