LeBron James Sits With Strep Throat, Could Miss More Time

Cavaliers general manager David Griffin has marvelously orchestrated deals this season that would allow the Cavaliers to sign players playing on expiring contracts if they got bought out to play on the veteran's minimum. The star will wear number 31 for the Cavaliers. James finished with 24 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

According to a report by The Mercury News, Bogut, who secured a buyout from the Philadelphia 76ers, is considering several National Basketball Association teams that include the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs. The 6-foot-3 guard spent his first seven seasons with Toronto, went to Detroit, back to Toronto for a season, and then played for Dallas, New York, and most recently played for the Lakers.

"At the end of the day I just felt like this was the best fit for me", said Williams, speaking to reporters in the hallway outside the Cavs locker room shortly before Cleveland hosted the Milwaukee Bucks. "However, Bogut wants to pursue a championship and play a significant role for a veteran team". "Two D-Wills. You can call me whatever, Deron, D, whatever".

"There's not a lot of point guards that can do both", Korver said. "It was an easy decision for me". "This is an opportunity to come and win a championship, possibly, play at a high level and be a part of a great team".

"This team really understands sacrificing yourself and preparing along the way".

While James has been vocal about the team's need for another playmaker, the numbers show the Cavs are doing just fine as now constructed.

While he's not at the point in his career where he could consistently log 30-plus minutes per game, Bogut could be a key reserve off the bench for the defending champions and would be a major asset for coach Tyronn Lue, who could use him in various matchups and situations.

If the Cavs were to acquire Bogut, they would need to waive a player to create an open roster spot with guard Jordan McRae being a likely candidate.

Does that still ring true after Monday, when the team acquired its third significant piece in 2017 in Deron Williams, a three-time All-Star? They added Derrick Williams on February 9, and in seven games he's immediately turned himself into a rotation player coach Tyronn Lue might very well use in the playoffs. The Bucks termed it a left knee sprain.

James did not play in Saturday's loss to the Chicago Bulls, dropping the Cavs' record to 0-4 without their superstar forward this season.
