Car Plows Into Parade Crowd In New Orleans

During a parade of Mardi Gras in New Orleans, an extremely drunk person drove his truck into a crowd of people who were enjoying themselves in one of the most known festivals in the whole world. Police said Sunday the youngest victim was a 1-year-old baby. Another seven declined to be hospitalised. Police Chief Michael Harrison said the male driver was being investigated for driving while intoxicated.

Suspect Neilson Rizzuto appearing in a "highly intoxicated" state, say authorities. Harrison said the officer, who was on duty, was undergoing tests to determine the extent of her injuries.

The man who allegedly plowed into a crowd enjoying a Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans had a blood alcohol level almost three times the legal limit, police said Sunday.

She also said Rizzuto was not a flight risk and would "abide by any conditions" set. Families watching the parade.

Greg McNeely told The Times-Picayune that he was watching the parade when a pickup truck sped through the intersection.

This was the second incident in New Orleans in the past 24 hours.

"Next thing I know I've underneath the hood of the truck on top of someone", he said.

Another woman Kourtney McKinnis, 20, said the driver of the truck seemed nearly unaware of what he had just done.
