Players to Embark on a Journey to Un'Goro

The next Hearthstone announcement has been confirmed as the Journey to Un'Goro expansion, which will includes a ton of content, as well as new cards.

Beginning tomorrow, you will be able to pre-purchase 50 Journey to Un'Goro card packs for $49.99 Dollars and receive the Fossil card pack. The expansion was just announced through a video recently uploaded to YouTube, with Ben Brode wanting to nerf everything before showing off the expansion's trailer. We have several new legendary elemental cards, as well as some interesting tweaks on past elemental minions.

Journey to Un'Goro will be free to all players, but as usual, you'll have the chance to get a leg up on teh new cards if you're the kind of person who loves opening card packs. For $50 you can pre-purcahse a special bundle of 50 packs containing all-new cards. The expansion is out in April, and more cards will be revealed mid-March. Playing your quest card acts somewhat like a secret, but your opponent can see what quest you're trying to accomplish.

The second keyword introduced is Adapt, which works like a mashup of Discover, which is Druid's Choose One effect, and the spare parts that we saw a lot of during the Goblins vs. Gnomes era.

So, you play Awaken the Makers for 1 mana.

Un'Goro is also adding Adapt cards. Any one of the three options chosen will immediately buff your minion. Along with Amara, it could be a powerful tool against fast-paced, aggressive decks that fill the board with a lot of low-priced minions. Volcano will deal a total of 15 damage to all minions on the board, similar to a Paladin's Avenging Wrath spell. Many players criticized the last expansion, Mean Streets of Gadgetzan, for letting aggressive decks to become too successful. These new cards start in your hand and cost one mana. Rumor has it that previous explorers left some unfinished business in Un'Goro-daunting quest cards that, should you complete their requirements, grant rewards of monstrous power. It's also possible that the neutral "giant" cards - such as Frost Giant, Molten Giant and Sea Giant - could fit under the Elemental tag, depending on how liberally Blizzard wishes to apply it. This could open up new synergies for these minions, like we've seen with Mechs, Dragons, and Pirates.

Un'Goro is the first of three expansions Blizzard has planned for 2017. The biggest meta change, a Standard rotation that shuffles out the cards of Blackrock Mountain, The Grand Tournament and League of Explorers, is on the horizon. Since this is a situational card, sometimes you'll actually want the Booty Bay Bodyguard or an 8/4 five-mana card, or a 5/4 with Windfury.
