Pikachu to get a party hat in Pokemon GO

As The Silph Road points out, this could be a teaser for another new double XP event. "Increased 10 km egg drop rate?" "From February 26 at 1:00 P.M. PST to March 6 at 1:00 P.M. PST, special Pikachu appearing all over the world will be celebrating Pokémon Day by wearing festive party hats".

Either way, it's good news for Pokemon Go players. It is not the first time that Niantic has introduced special versions of Pokemon in the game, as we had seen a similar during the Christmas week. To celebrate the Pokemon Day, which is starting from tomorrow until March 6, players will be able to encounter a new festive-hat Pikachu in Pokemon GO. From February 26 at 1pm PST to March 6 at 1pm PST (9pm United Kingdom time), any Pikachu you encounter in the wild will be wearing a festive party hat!

"These special Pikachu will keep their party hats forever, but they can only be found during this limited-time celebration, so make sure to keep an eye out for them as you explore!" says developer Niantic.

Interested users may go ahead and install the new Pokemon GO update via Google Play Store for Android and App Store for iOS as the update is expected to go live shortly. February 27 will be dedicated to celebrating the wonderfulness of Pokemon around the world.

"Pokemon Go" 1.27.3 and 0.57.3 for iOS and Android versions have been released by Niantic fixing some glitches that users have been experiencing over the past few weeks.

This is an especially welcome move when you consider the chances of encountering them are thought to be just 1 in 8192.
