Oscars 2017: What to expect from the red carpet fashion

So it was a little disappointing that we didn't get to see Cate Blanchett on the 2017 Oscars red carpet this year.

After a good meal, the final step before heading to the Academy Awards is looking the part.

Emma Stone, who is poised to win an Oscar, was golden in her fully beaded Art Deco-esque flapper dress with tiered fringe from Givenchy.

With accessories from Irene Neuwirth crown and earrings covered in Gemfields rubies, the actress looked stunning.

"[It's] Elie Saab couture", she told ET on the red carpet. Wearing a high-neck gown by Ralph & Russi crafted from grey silk organza and finished with 3D floral applique along with crystal embellishment.

She completed her look with a dramatic smokey eye, light pink pout, elegant updo and diamond stud earrings.

The "Quantico" star was seen sporting a column gown with ideal sleek hair, nude lips, drop earrings and chunky bracelet.

Cagle also offered a view of the cloudy skies above Hollywood, where rain is predicted to threaten the awards show's red carpet.

Blanchett has attended the Oscars eight times over the years, winning awards for Best Supporting Actress in Aviator in 2005, and Best Actress for Blue Jasmine in 2013, and being nominated several other awards throughout the years.

Apart from gold and silver, the red carpet was dominated by monochrome gowns.

Blanchett accepted her Oscar in 2014 while wearing this handsome gown. "When she wore that Gucci dress with the parrots on the shoulders - I happened to be a big fan, that was serious fashion, she took a risk that I think worked very beautifully", said Saboura who thinks she'll play it safe at the Oscars.
