Om Puri honoured at 2017 Academy Awards

The actor who was passed away due to cardiac arrest in Mumbai, got a well-deserved musical tribute by Grammy and Tony-nominated singer and songwriter Sara Bareilles. The Memoriam segment was presented by Hollywood actor Jennifer Aniston. Nawaz's comment came soon after Om Puri was honoured at the 89th Annual Academy Awards ceremony in the "In Memoriam" montage.
Om Puri, known for his art films and remarkable performances was remembered at the Oscars.
Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who is riding high on success after his last film "Raees" did wonders at the box office, today slammed Bollywood Award functions for not remembering the late veteran actor Om Puri in the recently held events.
"Moonlight" bagged the best film award, while "La La Land' won 6 Academy Awards, including Best Original Score and Best Original Song "City of Stars". Om Puri was the also the alumni of National School of Drama. The other names who were in the list of the departed ones included Prince, Carrie Fisher, Garry Marshall, Patty Duke, Gene Wilder, Michael Cimino, Anton Yelchin, Mary Tyler Moore, John Hurt and Curtis Hanson. He had an affinity towards socially relevant cinema. He also appeared in Hollywood films such as City of Joy, Wolf and The Ghost and the Darkness.
Padma Shri awardee and National Award-winner Om Puri was honoured at the Academy Awards ceremony in the "In Memoriam" montage.
Soon, tinsel town paid tributes to the late actor on social media.
