MWC 2017: Sony unveils Xperia XZ Premium

"Whether it's a memory-stacked camera system capable of super slow motion capture or the world's first 4K HDR smartphone display, we're delivering experiences that connect with users in emotional and meaningful ways like never before". Now, the company has no plans to move away from its own trend as the Xperia XZ Premium, the newly announced smartphone from the company at MWC 2017, has a 4K HDR resolution display.

The company's latest attempt to secure a lucrative foothold in the Android market - something made hard, historically, by the vast numbers of competitors and general sameness abound - sees releases at the top and middle of the sector. Sony might use this image sensor with DRAM in this year's flagship devices. This technology is usually found on Sony's premium compact cameras, and allows you to record video up to 960 frames per second, which is four times slower than other smartphone.

Starting with the Sony Xperia XZ Premium, the smartphone sports a 5.5-inch Triluminos HDR display with 4K (2160 x 3840) resolution.

The Sony Xperia XZs goes on sale in the selected market from the month April onwards. On both the Xperia XA1 and the Xperia XA1 Ultra, you will be able to capture a selfie by simply waving at the camera, with the "Hand Shutter" feature.

It's not cheap, though, costing €1,599 in Europe.

The device will be powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC with Adreno 540 GPU, but don't expect the flagship to grace retail stores before summers.

Other notable features of the phone include water resistance, rated to IP65 and IP68. The company doesn't disclose any news regarding Song Xperia XZs Price, and it is expected to announce at the time of availability. As you may know, the original Xperia XZ was launched at the IFA 2016 and released later in October, priced at $699. The Predictive Capture function makes the camera buffer a few images whenever any motion is detected and keeps them ready even before you tap the capture switch.

The Sony XZ Premium is now official, following its launch at MWC 2017.

The XZ Premium also packs in 4GB RAM, 64GB of storage, a microSD card slot for expansion, a 3,230 mAh battery with QuickCharge 3.0 as well as Qnovo adaptive charging support.

Otherwise, the smartphone looks stylish with its metal antennas at the top and bottom and Gorilla Glass 5 protection on both the front and rear covers. The rear camera is a 19MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture, but instead of a 2-layer design, this features a memory layer in between the sensor and control circuitry layers.

A pocket friendly phone, the XA1 features a 5-inch HD display, gets 3GB RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and offers a 2300mAh battery. Actual launch dates have not been provided, and we don't have pricing details either.
