Mahershala Ali wins best supporting actor at the 89th Oscars

According to Article 260-3 of Pakistan's Constitution, Ahmadis are declared "non-Muslims" and have already been the subject of rigorous debate that legally excludes them through use of the phrase, "for the purposes of the constitution or law". "They fold into themselves". The actor, who became a father last week, was handed the award by last year's Supporting Actress Winner Alicia Vikander.

It was the first Oscar win and nomination for Ali who was considered the frontrunner in the category after winning a slew of earlier awards for his performance.

"I wanted to tell you what happened. I am honored to accept this award on all their behalfs".

"We kind of get caught up in the minutiae and the details that make us all different".

Did you know: His real name is not Mahershala- as told to The Hollywood Reporter, his actual birth name is Mahershalalhashbaz Gilmore.

"My mother is an ordained minister". "She is able to see me". We love each other, the love has grown. That stuff is minutiae. "It's not that important".

Ali, who was born in Oakland and raised in Hayward, won the Oscar for his quietly powerful performance in "Moonlight".

President Donald Trump's order banning immigrants from seven Muslim-majority nations resonated at the award ceremony, having prompted Iranian director Asghar Farhadi to opt out of attending.

But as it was implemented by apparently fanatical ICE agents, the ban also had an impact on United States citizens, as President Bannon nearly certainly intended that it should.

Now, with her son's latest triumph, Mama Ali certainly has much to be proud of.

At one point during the show, Kimmel inexplicably asked the audience to say Mahershala's name in unison.

A man touched him on the shoulder, asking him if he was Muslim. He is a United States citizen by birth and holds an American passport.

He has spoken out about the discrimination he has faced as an African American Muslim.

It's been a busy week for Mahershala Ali!

Ali also stars alongside Taraji P Henson in Oscar-nominated Hidden Figures, a drama about black female mathematicians that who played pivotal roles in Nasa's 1961 space race.
