OTTAWA-SodaStream is recalling thousands of its bottles in Canada and the US because of a danger they may rupture when a user is in the process of carbonating water.
The SodaStream 1-Liter Blue Tint Dishwasher Safe Self-Carbonating Bottles are being recalled due to a potential explosive hazard. The CPSC says that this model was typically sold in Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, and Walmart stores and online at amazon.com and sodastream.com from February 2016 through January 2017.
Sodastream told the BBC that the affected bottles had never been sold in the United Kingdom and it had recalled the products voluntarily. Although the bottles are from different models and are not included in the recall, the alleged complaints are all similar. If you do happen to have a potentially explosion-prone bottle, the company will issue you a refund. According to the report from the Government of Canada, the affected bottles were sold per piece and a pack of three.
Consumers who had bought the affected bottles are being instructed to stop using them immediately. For customers in Canada, you can contact customer support at 866-299-8426.
