Jayalalithaa's 69th birth anniversary : AIADMK rival camps compete to celebrate

She considered Chennai's R K Nagar as her working constituency which has fallen vacant after the death of Jayalalithaa.
This year too, festivities reached a pinnacle but with one difference, following Jayalalithaa's death on 5th December.
Friday may go down as the day when the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam unraveled. Deepa even said that Jaya is quite close to her heart and she is in no mood to work for Sasikala.
On her brother Deepak's remarks regarding his willingness to pay Rs 100 crore fine for the Poes Garden residence, which he claimed has been bequeathed to him and Deepa, she said, "I am not aware of what he stated".
As a war of words broke out, the state government led by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, his predecessor and dissident leader O Panneerselvam and AIADMK observed the birth anniversary of the late chief minister in different ways including holding of medical camps and planting of saplings.
She named the party "MGR Amma Deepa Peravai" in an indication that she will fall back on the legacy of AIADMK founder MG Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa, fondly called "Amma" by her followers.
"Dinakaran is not fit to be the party deputy general secretary". In 2012, Sasikala was restored as a party member, but not her relatives and loyalists. He said Sasikala was more like his mother and the split in AIADMK was nothing but a family feud which will soon be solved.
Deepa further expressed hope to fulfill all aspirations that has been put forward to her by the people of Tamil Nadu.
On Sasikala, Deepa said, "She plunged into politics to promote her family".
"Nobody is asking me for Panneerselvam's pictures", said J Rajesh, a postcard salesman.
